Player performance projection
Rates every player who featured on a 0–100 scale, then projects an expected impact for a chosen match. Each rating blends two real signals, weighted by position: (1) playing-time — starts and appearances for the national team in this tournament, so a defender or keeper who anchors every game rates highly even without goals; and (2) attacking output — goals and assists per appearance, made cross-league comparable via a documented league-strength coefficient where ESPN exposes the player's club. Forwards lean on output, keepers and defenders on minutes. Where club data isn't in the free feed, the output portion uses international figures only and says so — nothing is fabricated.
Projected starting XI
The model predicts each team's most-likely starting XI and formation from who has actually been starting (and finishing) this tournament, balanced across goalkeeper / defense / midfield / attack. Once ESPN posts the official lineup, the page compares the two and scores how many of the 9 outfield picks matched — the same honest lineup-check used on the MLB page.
